In 1980, Mrs. Fernando set up a flower nursery and has been selling flowers ever since. Since its founding, her business has participated in many flower shows and received commendable awards. To keep her business growing, Mrs. Fernando wanted to sell more types of flowers in her shop but was never able to afford it and could not obtain a loan from another organization. She joined BRAC Lanka Finance PLC and took a loan of LKR 25,000 so she could expand her business. Mrs. Fernando hopes BRAC will continue to help people pull themselves out of poverty in Sri Lanka as it helped her and her family.
